| WORKABILITY: | Good working properties but requires sharp tools due to hardness. Bluntng effect on tooling is moderate. Predrilling of fasteners is required to prevent splitting. Gluing is satisfactory. Turns well. Good boring and mortising properties. Sands and finishes well. Often used for steam bending. Chemical staining possible in contact with iron or steel. |

| PRESERVATION: | Resistant to preservative treatment. |
